Ronaldo hot favourite to win next Ballon D’Or prize

Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, is now the leading contender to be named the World Player of the Year.

The 31-year-old won the 2016 European Championship with his country last weekend, six weeks after winning the Champions League with Real Madrid.
Ronaldo, who has won everything there is, will be hoping to claim his fourth Ballon D’or award, ahead of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann.

Griezmann, who lost the Euro 2016 final to Ronaldo’s Portugal, admitted afterwards that “for the Ballon d’Or, it is all over, Ronaldo won the two big competitions this season”.

The French forward was also part of the Atletico Madrid team, that lost to Real in the Champions League final in May.

Messi was unable to help Argentina win this year’s Copa America, although he won the La Liga with Barcelona, while his club team-mate, Luis Suarez, missed the Centenario because of injury.
